FICCI in collaboration with the National Career Service, Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India organized the Online World of Work Career Summit 2021 from 21st to 23rd December 2021 for students, faculties, and job seekers PAN India. 

The three-day summit was filled with interactive Career Awareness Sessions and insightful Masterclasses in the field of Pharmaceutical & Life Sciences, Drones, and IT- ITES. The participants were introduced to the concepts of Data Visualization, Career Growth using digital networks, employability in the Drone and Aviation Sector and so much more!

Drone Industry Insights

The Drone industry is like the Aurora Borealis of the 4th Industrial Revolution in India. According to global market intelligence and advisory firm BIS Research, the global drone market, which is currently dominated by the US, China, and Israel, will touch $28.47 billion this year and India will comprise about 4.25 percent of that. 

The year 2021 has already thrown up a number of lodestars for the drone industry. From liberalization of drone policies to near-instant commissioning of flagship programs like 'Medicine from the Sky', 'SWAMITVA Yojana' and from the recent releases of SOPs for using Drones in farms to the unlocking of a host of sectoral opportunities, all these advances pose as an outlay of how a multi-sectoral approach can turbo change a sector.

India - The Next Drone Hub

India has already decided to emerge as a leader in drone technology. As a matter of fact, this decade has witnessed the widespread usage of Drones in every sphere starting from mining to security to construction. 

The use of drones in the commercial sector has experienced a high surge in the last decade. According to a survey, the drone industry has observed a tremendous growth as much as 239% in Construction, 198% in Mining, 172% in Agriculture, 171% in Survey and Inspection, and around 118% in the Real Estate industry. The Drone manufacturers have now started equipping the UAVs with the latest technologies such as Big Data, Cloud Computing, AI, Hardware Stimulation, VR, and Analytics to make them capable of carrying out every function in the most precise manner.

There's not a single industry that drone technology has left untouched. Powerline transmission, mining, railways, roadways, renewable resources, agriculture, disaster management, etc. - the Drones have established their prowess in every sector.

According to the reports by Drone Federation India, there are at least 100 drone manufacturers, 200 drone service providers, and over 1 lakh drone pilots in India. And the drone industry is sure to generate around 5-7 lakh job opportunities for people all over the nation. The development of Drones draws upon a variety of skill sets including aeronautics, robotics, software development, AI, and mechanical engineering. Software Engineers, Data Analysts, Consultants, Hardware Engineers, etc are some of the most in-demand jobs associated with drone development. Not just pilots and engineers, but the industry demands cinematographers and aerial photographers as well. The industry has also seen a rise in the number of micro-entrepreneurs; Dronepreneurs. Besides that, there are a number of other allied jobs such as - Self-employed Drone Pilots, Drone Maintenance and Repair, Specialist in Drone Assembling and Commissioning, Production Line Staff, Technical Support Specialist, Drone Recycler and Scrapper, Drone Pilot in Micro Enterprises - that are quite lucrative in this sector.

With the liberalized set of UAS Rules 2021, the Government has taken catalytic steps for the exponential growth of the industry. With an estimated investment of 5000 crores, the industry is expected to generate around 10000 beneficial job opportunities under the PLI Scheme in the next 3 years.
